Entdecke die Fahrzeuge der nächsten Generation.
Die Global Green Challenge hat sich zu einer Plattform und einem Testgelände für die nächste Generation der Fahrzeugtechnik entwickelt.
Die “Global Green Challenge” wird vom südaustralischen Motorsportverband veranstaltet und gilt als die inoffizielle Weltmeisterschaft des solaren Motorsports. Das Rennen ist eine Fortführung des erfolgreichen Solarwagenrennens “World Solar Challenge” und findet bereits zum zehnten Mal statt. Die Anfänge kamen mit der legendären World Solar Challenge. Dies war eine Herausforderung für die Forschung zu nachhaltigem Transportalternativen. In der letzten Zeit wurde die Technologie für Elektrofahrzeuge stark weiterentwickelt und gefördert. Die Ergebnisse können sich bei der Global Green Challenge sehen lassen: ein Solarauto mit seinen Fahrer fährt heute mit einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von über 100 Km/h 3000 km quer durch Australien. Viele der gewaltigen Fortschritte kann man in diesem Rennen bestaunen: neue Technologien für die der Umwandlung von Sonne zu Strom, neue Batterietechnologie, Reifen mit geringem Rollwiderstand und neuartige Elektromotoren. Fahrzeuge mit diesen innovativen Technologien finden ihren Weg auch in die konventionellen Autos der neuen Generation im Kraftfahrzeugwesen. Das Global Green Challenge Event ist nicht nur ein Showlauf, sondern auch eine Ausstellung und ein Probelauf umweltfreundlicher Fahrzeuge, die mitten durch das Herz Australiens ihren Weg zurücklegen. Beim diesjährigen Rennen vom 24. bis zum 31. Oktober nehmen erstmalig auch Elektro- und weitere alternative Fahrzeuge teil.
Die “Global Green Challenge” ist in zwei Kategorien aufgeteilt: die World Solar Challenge für Solarfahrzeuge und die Eco Challenge für Serienfahrzeuge. Beide geben der Welt einen kurzen Einblick in die nachhaltig umweltfreundlichen Fahrzeuge der Zukunft.
Die Global Green Challenge umfasst zwei Kategorien:
* Die World Solar Challenge – für rein solar-angetriebene Fahrzeuge
* Die Eco Chalenge – für umweltfreundlich produzierte und experimentelle Fahrzeuge.
3000 km weit von Darwin nach Adelaide, stellt die Global Green Challenge Technologie, Forschung und Innovation der zukunftsweisenden Fahrzeuge auf die Probe. Das Rennen soll einen Anstoß für einen nachhaltigen und schonenden Umgang mit unseren Umwelt und den Planeten geben. Öffentliche Ausstellungen der Fahrzeuge vor und nach dem Rennen finden in Darwin und Adelaide statt. Ein weiteres Event wird auch in Alice Springs stattfinden.

The tour starts from Windhoek , the capitol of Namibia and guides the participants in north western direction up to the border of Angola.
Up to that point the landscape changes every day, the exeptional wildlife shows its beauty and the team gets to meet the first Himba village. It is an encounter of the cultures and everybody is deeply impressed by that experience. After a few days the team has to manage one of the most difficult 4×4 trails Africa has to offer – the van Zyl’s Pass which guides into the Marienfluss valley and allows a maximum travel speed of 4 Km/h. Two days the cars have to climb from rock to rock and it ist a challenge for all team members and a test in terms of trust and teamwork.
After 7 days of travelling through the stunning nature and the effort to manage the van Zyl’s Pass the team arrives at the Serra Cafema Lodge, one of the most beautiful places situated directly at the border to Angola, next to the Kunene River. The tour ends with some more wunderful impressions of namibias wildlife and nature and the way back to Windhoek where everthing started.
Following the success of the Green Futures model, the Grootbos Foundation has embarked on a new training project to further our commitment to developing the local community. Growing the Future is all about food production, and 8 women will be trained per year in the growing of vegetables and fruit, beekeeping and the principles of successful animal husbandry.
Subsistence farming has always been integral to many of the South African cultures, but in recent years, as people have moved from rural areas to the cities in search of work, these skills have started to lapse. This is understandable as most of the people that move to the cities end up living in squatter camps under difficult conditions where arable land is hard to come by. Also, subsistence farming has taken a backseat to the luxuries that can be attained with money. For this reason we have decided to give Growing the Future a Chickens are a vital source of foodcommercial edge, showing how people can provide food, as well as generate income. For example, strawberries can be eaten, but when they are made into jam they can be sold for a profit. It is important to us that the women have some exposure to, and learn the principles behind successful business. This will form a large part of the life skills component of the course, which will also include computer literacy, health education, numeracy and English.
